Wow, that’s exactly what I was hoping for!
I can understand why people can’t stop loving New York so much.
We spent three unforgettable days in Manhattan, and my dreams about that city are only growing stronger.
I’ll be honest: we didn’t plan anything.
We only had two things: a hotel and tickets for a Broadway show.
If you’re not a planning person, believe me, that’s enough.
That night, our flight from Croatia landed around 10 pm. Some might say that’s very late, but remember, the Big Apple never sleeps.
We took an Uber to our hotel, Conrad, which I found to be excellent. The location, room quality, breakfast, and bar cocktails were all great for our short stay. The only thing that was missing, and this is only if you ask my man, is a pool. He really enjoys using a hot tub after a long flight, but for me, the excitement of everything else made up for it.
My heart was so fulfilled. I have no idea if I was hungry, thirsty, or just completely overwhelmed, but there I was—Times Square. We walked less than a mile and I started to feel like I belong there.
I felt like a bird, a princess, a trendy Vogue Magazine girl. OMG, I just felt incredibly happy. You know, like really, really happy.
That’s what trips do to you. That’s why we pay to go places, that’s why we seek out new experiences, that’s why we’re always looking for new travel ideas. But that’s also why we are who we are. Without that, I don’t know what, but I’ll try not to think too far ahead and just focus on that night. I don’t know why it’s so hard to stay content sometimes. Yeah, I guess I’m just too girly.
So, trips.
They give you different energy and let you feel completely new emotions. And ask me, what else do we need? Okay, a sip of wine, a sip of Moscow Mule, a sip of water… It’s getting late now, and we’ve been flying for more than 10 hours. Yes! We definitely need a drink.
Well-known hot dog.
After Marko grabbed a well-known hot dog, I skipped along, and we stumbled upon an Irish pub in the heart of Times Square. The pub had a dive bar vibe, playing some old-school music, and the drinks were decent—just right for rounding off the night.
It’s fortunate that I spent over a year in the States, so I’m quite accustomed to how things work here. Otherwise, knowing me, I would be completely bewildered.
California girl
For a California girl like me, being in the SF Bay Area—now that’s what I’m calling myself—was like a complete rebirth, with all the big lights and the vibrant city traffic.
Times Square
Yeah, it’s cool and all, but among all the other neighborhoods in NYC, Times Square is now my last choice. It’s fun and, of course, a must-see, but with my refined taste, I prefer places with less tourism and more local flavor.
